Whilst the NHS has transformed, much of it has been unplanned. The adoption of technology is probably the most important transformation and has been done without central planning. It promised the delivery of more efficient care, better information and better planning but the reality hasn’t been a more efficient NHS. All the same, its now impossible to imagine delivery of care without much of the technology currently in place. So is the future better than the past?
