Dr Ruth Green, Consultant Dermatopathologist, Northern Care Alliance
Synopsis:
Diagnosis in cellular pathology relies on diagnostic reasoning skills and pattern recognition which can be particularly associated with bias. Errors in diagnosis can be associated with faulty clinical reasoning and can be attributed to biases. In this session we explore cognitive bias in relation to practice and how physiologic factors, time and experience can influence this. Development of de-biasing strategies will be discussed.
