Imaging
The Imaging Section of the Manchester Medical Society (MMS) was founded in 2000. The steering committee comprises enthusiastic members of the North West imaging community, from radiologists, radiographers, physicists, nuclear medicine physicians to medical students and foundation doctors. The committee welcomes any members with an interest in imaging.
Our aim is to inspire and promote learning, inclusivity and communication. The annual lecture programme promotes medical imaging and is targeted to appeal both to those within the imaging community as well as the wider medical community. Meetings are held either face-to-face or online in order to balance demands of busy working lives but also give the opportunity to network with colleagues throughout the region. The division maintains links with the North West School of Radiology and offers an annual trainee presentation event which gives the opportunity for trainees to bolster their CV.
In addition to an annual lecture programme, the Imaging Division contributes to the annual Manchester Medical School careers fair. In 2021, the Judith Adams Essay Competition was founded which encourages senior medical students and foundation doctors to submit an essay on a current topic, with prizes awarded and certificates of involvement.
The Imaging section welcomes any current or potential members who may wish to join the society or the committee as well as those who would like to contribute to our education programme. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via the Society Secreteriat at admin@mms.org.uk.
