GUEST LECTURE: Occlusion in Restorative Dentistry 
Mr Stephen Davies,
 Specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Lecturer in Occlusal and Temporomandibular Studies at the University of Manchester

Talk synopsis:

The  talk will describe the Context in which Occlusion can be viewed, and answer the questions: What is meant by Ideal Occlusion and Malocclusion? This will lead into a discussion of the different occlusal approaches that are available in Restorative Dentistry, with guidance on how they can be followed.  The risks of ignoring the Guidelines of Good Occlusal Practice will be discussed, illustrated with Case Histories. Finally what to do if a patient reacts poorly to a new occlusal scheme will be presented 

Learning objectives: 

  • Know how to carry out an Occlusal Analysis
  • Know how to determine which Occlusal Approach is appropriate for a restorative  case
  • Understand the  the Guidelines of Good Occlusal Practice
