Professor Dame Jane Dacre, Emeritus Professor of Medical Education at the UCL Medical School in London and President of the Medical Protection Society.
Professor Dame Jane Dacre is a distinguished medical educator and rheumatologist, currently serving as President of the Medical Protection Society and Emeritus Professor at UCL Medical School. She is also President of the Medical Women’s Federation and the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund.
A former President of the Royal College of Physicians, Dame Jane has made significant contributions to medical education, particularly in assessment and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). She led the Department of Health and Social Care’s landmark review into the Gender Pay Gap in Medicine and now chairs its implementation advisory group.
Her academic work includes pioneering the UK’s first Clinical Skills Centre and co-authoring the widely used GALS screen for musculoskeletal examination. She has held senior roles with the GMC, MRCP(UK), and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, and continues to influence national policy as a specialist advisor to Parliament’s Health and Care Committee.
